It's a completely cool, multi-purpose blog.

Note: rent "The Castle" for fun and laughter

Work dull as ever, but everything else is good with the exception of my painting efforts on the cupboard doors in the prospective nursery. No matter how many coats I do, it comes out all blotchy. Next time, we hire a guy and I don't care what it costs.

M wants to leave at 4am tomorrow for our camping trip to Batemans Bay. She reckons this will beat the traffic. True, but we'll spend the first day of our holiday asleep. If that's what she wants, then that's what she gets; who am I to argue with a beautiful pregnant lady?

And how will we pass the time opn our long car trip south? Australians already know the answer to this. All together now:

We're going to Bonnydoon
We're going to Bonnydoon
We're going to Bonnydoon
We're going to Bonnydoon
We're going to Bonnydoon
We're going to Bonnydoon
We're going to Bonnydoon
We're going to Bonnydoon
We're going to Bonnydoon
We're going to Bonnydoon
We're going to Bonnydoon
We're going to Bonnydoon
We're going to Bonnydoon
We're going to Bonnydoon
We're going to Bonnydoon
We're going to Bonnydoon
etc.

Don't Panic

Just read that in a parrallel universe Michel Platini could've moved to Arsenal or Spurs in 1982 - blimey, a couple of timelines there that would make footie look a bit different today. if he's become a Gooneur, would Steve Morrow have ever existed?

Incredibly dull at work today, kept myself occupied by downloading new ads for Hitch-Hikers and Star Wars 3 - both v high potential, I'm saying, at least if Lucas has employed some decent script-polishers this time out.

Meanwhile, the throb at the back of my mouth is persisting following a second bout of root canal procedure. V painful this time around. I think the worst thing is having to lie there in that undignified way knowing that more agony is imminent and there is nothing you can do about it. Grizzle.

Another quiet week

Busy at home doing some research for my father-in-law's company, so still no pic updates - sorry. I'm sure to do it as displacement activity at some point, just as soon as something more boring is required. The research is pretty dull itself, into a couple of the posh hotels we stayed in in Canada theis Christmas, for use in an ego-stroking corporate exercise called Great, Grand, Famous. Urk.

Had a fun Saturday, some nerdboy gaming followed by Lari's 30th birthday party in the evening. The theme was "OTT and Outrageous". M wore a very fetching red wig while I had a cop-out outfit of a sling and some arrows. To be or not to be and all that.

Otherwise...picnic for an outdoor screening of "Pirates of the Caribbean...posh hospital to visit Rhyll and a 24-hours-old baby Evie...pool sesh at a sports pub in Parramatta...OK comedian called Danny Bhoy...usual kinda stuff.

Here's looking at you, kid

Pregnancy update! M is now looking agrreably expansive, and it's all maternity jeans round our way these days. We got to listen to the heartbeat at the GPs the other day, which was cool too. The whole having a baby business is weird and I'm not sure I've really got my head around the idea yet. Still, I don't know if you can until the bub actually arrives, so I'm not worrying about it.

Our mates Adam and Rhyll just had a baby girl last night. Aaah.

Went to see Casablanca at the movies on Wednesday which was fun. It's quite a good film, you know. Nice to have a little crew for it too, reminded me of far-off days at the LSE dragging everyone off to the NFT for some old movie or other. Ah, The Philadelphia Story.

After much banging of head on desk, I have got us back onlinefor the first time since mid-December. Hopefully I can find some time next week to stick some pics up here. Don't count on it, though.

Sleepless in Avoca

I haven't posted for a while because I was hoping for some news on the job front. That looks like it has come to nought, though. Buggrit. Geez, the TAFE can be tedious. Still, there's lots of jobs being advertised at the moment and I figure that with every job I fail to get I've got one less competitor for the next one.

M is well and looking larger every day. She's having trouble sleeping despite having 4 pillows around her during the night in various positions. I just spoke to her on the phone (I'm at work) and she sounded exhausted.

We had a good weekend up at Avoca which we filmed a bit of. Mark, Tanya and Andrew were the company, as well as m&t's beautiful rottie Bella. Lots of drinking, game-playing and late-night Rage watching. I even jumped in the sea for a while. But for the fact there was no movie, it was pretty much a quintessential Avoca weekend.

I've succumbed to reading a non-Top 100 book this week, naughty old me. It's francis Wheen's "How Mumbo-Jumbo Conquered The World", a wide-ranging defence of enlightenment values over the prevalent irrationalism of the age. Chimes very nicely with my skepticism (check out the James Randi website for more on this) and has some fascinating stuff on the US arms trade.
