Revelations

It's a completely cool, multi-purpose blog.

Outsourcing

B1 is being particularly sweet at the moment, and M has written a great post about it on her blog, if you're interested.

Bits and pieces

I just uploaded a heap of pictures from our last trip to the UK to the Flickr site. 3 weeks late, but we get there in the end.

I am at work today despite it being Saturday, but I get more cash and I get Tuesday off, so its OK. Boring, though. I just have to pass the time by ordering some books for the library and writing aimless blog posts.

Tonight I am off to a debate in town entitled "Does God Exist?". I'll enjoy hearing the arguments played out but somehow I don't think there will be many undecideds in the audience likely to be swayed. You either have faith or you ask for evidence, and never the twain shall meet, I suspect.

Later tonight it's my first early hours Arsenal match of the season, which I am absurdly excited about right now. It'll be a frustrating draw, I imagine.

Tomorrow we're buying a new barbie and a TV/DVD machine for the new "kids' area" we are creating at the back of the house. Will the excitement never end?

Woad. Surely everybody has heard of woad?

The Bs had a marvellous weekend, on Saturday winning a meat tray at Toongabbie RSL* and on Sunday enjoying the terrific Taronga Zoo.

Sadly, I missed out on all of this as I was up at Avoca with Team Nerd pretending to be, variously, a woad-covered barbarian, a space alien and Attila the Hun.

I think we all know who had the most fun.

*Pom readers - this is about as Australian as it gets. It helps them get over the angst of their feeble Olympic medal tally.

I Heart Lad Mags

On Saturday night, I was being driven through Sydney in a stretch Hummer with the editors of Ralph and Zoo magazines.

Any further information would be superfluous.

I was so much older then, I'm younger than that now

I'm down to 41 in WiiFit years. 12 years in 4 days seems good.

I have also started fretting about how the machine acts disappointed if I miss a day.

Masterchef

I was looking after the kids the other day while M was working. B2 was sleeping and I was eating a sandwich at the kitchen table, and B1 announced that she wanted a toastie.

"Right, whatever" I mumbled.

B1 then proceeded to climb onto a stool, take some bread out of the breadbin, move the stool, put the bread into the toaster, get some Philadelphia and lettuce out of the fridge, take a knife out of the cutlery drawer, get a plate out of the cupboard remove the now-toasted bread from the toaster, apply the Philly and lettuce to one slice of toast, and place the second slice of toast on top.

Voila, one toasted sandwich.

From now on, I say she does her own cooking.

We bought a fridge too, but that's not so interesting

Huge excitement at home on the well-being front, after we splashed out for the, like, totally cool Wii and WiiFit. For the unitiated, Wii is that games machine that involves waving your arms around maniacally whilst a cartoon version of you plays tennis on the telly, and WiiFit is a board you stand on while a virtual aerobics instructor tells you how unfit you are.

The best bit about it is playing the daft games and making a fool of yourself by flailing around the living room and getting emotionally involved in a game of imaginary hula-hooping.

The worst bit is being told that, due to fatness and an apparent absence of any sense of balance, my WiiFit age is 53. 53! M offered some encouraging words, only for the effect to be ruined when her age was calculated as 31, 3 years below her actual age. Treacherous bitch.

Incidentally, I would love to have posted a photo of myself Wii-ing here, but that would only serve to undermine my scrupulously cultivated aura of dignified reserve.
